Hi I'm Bubs, welcome to my home on the web!

Thanks for stopping by! You have stumbled upon the personal website of Sidney Collins (aka Bubs). I'm a 24-year old student at the University of Alabama studying Computer Science and Mathematics. Powerbook Crashed… Again

i somehow managed to break my computer again… and i’m really scared i lost everything.  i should’ve learned to make backups on a regular basis, but there’s no use crying over spilled milk.  i don’t know of anyone who has had as many problems with their powerbook as i have.  i’m beginning to wonder if i’m cursed when it comes to computers… maybe i should change my major and go to school for another 6 years???

Strange, Strange Dream

So, I was living in an apartment complex located just off the interstate on a bluff overlooking a valley. Nestled beside the valley to the northwest of the complex was an active volcano that had recently started erupting, spewing ash and rock into the air dreadfully close to my apartment. I was concerned for my fellow tenants, so I went door to door alerting them of the volcano. To the east on an even higher ledge was another apartment complex which I apparently owned. I offered rooms to my neighbors until after the eruption. After packing my car full of my most important belongings, I noticed that the valley below was rapidly filling with lava, but it was a beautiful sight! My blog readers would be proud because I remember thinking to myself, ‘I need to take a picture of this to post on my website!’ On one trip to my car, I spotted my friend, Aaron, who was too busy packing his car to say hello ;)

For some reason that I cannot recall, I had to drive down the interstate, but I forgot to bring Pixie and my parakeets! In my haste to retrieve my beloved animals, I rear-ended the car in front of me. The driver turned out to be a boy from my junior high that I haven’t seen in ages… I have no clue how he ended up in my dream! Anyways, once I got back to my apartment, I was horrified to find the lava had overflowed the valley and inched up to the door of my apartment, blocking my entrance. I woke up before finding out if I saved my animals or not

Movie Reviews

I’m striving to make my blog interesting again :spin:

The Black Dahlia

If you like crime dramas, this is a must see! Filled to the brim with twists and turns, I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. The weak-stomached might want to keep their distance, though. Dahlia definitely had its share of gore, but that’s because the actual crime was brutal. (Read more about the true Dahlia story). The real crime remains unsolved, but the film has closure… and the climax will shock you! ;) 7 out of 10 stars.

All the King’s Men review coming soon…

Question of the Day

If you call someone a close-minded idiot for believing in God, doesn’t that make you just as closed-minded as the other guy? I see this happen a lot.

I’m going to try and put the new layout and content up soon. I’m also starting a ‘Dream Diary’… I have very interesting dreams, so that should be fun ;)

Good, Bad, and the Ugly

I have to end my obsession with Design Snack… it’s raising my blood pressure! The members downvote BEAUTIFUL sites such as Soap Media, Renegade Zen, Simply Jazzmin, and Draft.Media with little or no explanation and then turn around and vote positive on PAGE-BUILDER and table-riddled sites!

I had a conversation with one of my mentors recently on my ‘webdesign skills‘ and I came to the realization that I care more about code than pretty graphics. To me, code is as much an artform as a painting or a photo. And I find myself getting very offended when someone says, “People flaunting the fact that their website is valid XHTML and tableless CSS are stupid…” I’m sorry, but I’m quite proud of the fact that I take the time and effort to create a clean, original, and accessible website. Anyone can open up MS Frontpage, drag and drop a few pics, then call it a webpage but very few can pull out notepad and cook up a large website from scratch using PHP, XHTML, CSS, etc. :P

Sorry about that rant… I just had to get it off my chest. Any thoughts?
