I spent last week with my family (and painfully slow DSL). Rather than updating my website, which is usually to what I devote my freetime, I began my summer reading. I’ve only recently realized how much fun reading can be! I guess I always attributed reading to something you were forced to do during the summer for school
The books I’ve finished reading:
Books I’m currently reading:
Dies the Fire
Brave New World (Finished)
Memoirs of a Geisha
State of Fear
Books I want to read before the end of the summer:
Capitalism: The Unknown Ideal
The New Left: The Anti-Industrial Revolution
Atlas Shrugged
Screwtape Letters
Night
Adolf Hitler
The rest of the original Dune series
If you have any book suggestions, let me know. But keep in mind, I’d fall asleep reading a romantic comedy or something along those lines

Yay Reading!! Anthem is AWESOME, isn’t it? If you liked that, you should read The FOuntainhead by Ayn Rand, it’s really good. I’m reading the Da Vinci Code… yeah I know I’m totally behind haha.

You should check out Don’t Eat This Book, by Morgan Spurlock - it was recommended through my Book Project page and it was a funny read. You can read my review on it at my site (and feel free to click the ‘buy at amazon’ link at the bottom ;)).

Reading transports you to new places.
It’s an extremely relaxing activity, I must say.

Quite a wide range of books there. Well I’m assuming so because I”ve never heard of most of them.

I was rather unimpressed by The Screwtape Letters when I read it. I expected a better book, I guess - it’s all one-sided letters from one demon to another. You never get a response. However, I say this with the disclaimer that I did read it about five or so years ago, while I was in high school, so my opinion about it if I read it now may differ.
You’ll have to let us know how Atlas Shrugged goes. I could have applied for some scholarship a while back if I read it and wrote a paper about it, but it was about a million pages long and didn’t sound interesting to me so I never did it…
Yay for reading! I should make up a summer reading list.

Have you ever read Anna Karenina? It’s rather long, but definitely worth it. Also, if you want to suffer with me, you can read The Invisible Man. It’s my AP 12 English assignment for the summer, along with 33 plot, symbolism, theme and motif questions. Fun, yes?
