Last night I was sifting through my Akismet spam and noticed that one of the spammers apologized to me for his following spam comment
I’m currently attempting to write my first WP plugin. I want to integrate my plugboard and Caption Challenge into WP pages, but these scripts need to be plugins before I can accomplish this.
I previously used Wordpress only as a blogging tool. Now that I’m using pages I’ve come to realize how impressive the CMS really is!
The plugin documentation is extensive and extremely helpful for programmers. I’ve also been peeking at existing plugins for reference (GaMerZ’s plugins are well-written and easy to read!) I do have a question, though.
add_filter('the_content', 'bbb_page_print', 7);
The third parameter is priority (the order in which the functions associated with a particular filter are executed1)… but how do I know what priority to use?? Both the WP-UserOnline and WP-Plugin List plugins use 7
Your insight will be greatly appreciated! Happy Easter
Ben
Lmao, well at least we now know some of the spammers have hearts. A very selected few, but at least some.
I agree with you, WordPress is a very powerful CMS, and it is great. I love it.
I would never attempt to write a WP Plugin, simply because I don’t know an awful lot about PHP. I still struggle now with all the WordPress Template Tags. :/
Maybe I will be able to learn it one day
Good luck with the integration and please release the Plugboard plugin once it is complete. I have dieing for on, but knew it didn’t work well with Wordpress.

I only switched to using WP as a CMS last year, I think, and couldn’t believe I’d gone so long coding manually - talk about re-inventing the wheel! It really is wonderfully flexible and I’m glad I switched.
I didn’t have any spam for aaaaaaaaaaaaaages - until 2007, I think I only had 119 caught messages and figured that it was because I closed my comments after 7 days. Now it’s over 900 - clearly I was wrong.
I’ll gloss over the plugin bit. Trust me - you don’t need MY programming part . . . not unless you want hacking, anyways!

All the best in your coding
I’ve never tried to code one because I guess I got lazy *looks away*
I’ve got no spam because I auto close comments with the plugin after three days (it used to be one and it caused headaches for friends so yeah, I hafta stick with 3, because 3’s a lucky number :D)

I absolutely adore using WP as a CMS. When I switched to using it as a CMS it was a revelation for me too and I couldn’t believe I had waited so long to do it haha.
I wish I could help you with the plugins, but alas I haven’t even attempted to write my own plugin yet.

Oh yeah, I love wordpress.
I’ve made a couple of plugins for my own site and I haven’t released them for others to use because I don’t really think I can support bugs and misplaced character issues.

I love wordpress. I had shyed away from it for so long, because I thought it was so complicated. Then, it modified themes and created my own layout based on someone elses coding. (naughty!) Now i’m happy and making templates using the codex. Yay! Plug-ins? Would love to learn how to make them myself. Good luck!
