For the past 2 or 3 months BubblesSOC has been experiencing frequent downtime. It seemed as though I was contacting my host about it everyday. Sure, my site would be back for a moment, but within the following hours it’d be down again. Even after moving to a different server I was still having problems. Next thing I know, one of my sites was the source of the problems!
I was forced to disable your swap sub domain. Your account turns out to be the one causing the problems for both the rachel server, and now the richard server. Your swap sub domain is receiving extremely large amounts of traffic causing server wide failures of the web server.
The rest of your account is still active, and since I’ve disabled the swap sub domain should be loading without issue. The main culprit is the code.php file. There are hundreds of requests for “/code.php?id=1473&code=4″ coming in every few seconds at points. You will need a form of dedicated hosting for this account if the usage is to remain so high.
code.php once caused problems for me while at Netrillium, so I figured this issue would pop up again. I decided to close the BubblesSWAP rather than writing a new algorithm (my rotation had become somewhat of a burden due to its popularity.) Hours after solving the subdomain issue my site was still down, which was the last straw. I packed my bags and moved to Site5. Turns out, I was getting rather ripped off at ASO.
| ASO | Site5 | |
|---|---|---|
| Space | 1000mb | 768,000mb |
| Bandwidth | 25gb | 7,680gb |
| Price | $100/year | $102/year |
I’m expecting to be a happy customer of Site5 since many of my friends are hosted there (Jem, Rachael, Melissa) Although I must admit that I was a little disappointed after waiting over an hour for my support ticket to be answered. I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt since it is a Friday night.

I’m with Site5, and their customer support is fantastic! I’ve emailed them on several occasion. It took a little while to get back with me on one occasion, but once I replied to them, they worked with me until the issue was solved.
Glad you made the switch! Sounds like you were definitely getting ripped off my ASO. That’s too bad. Oh well! Your site is back up and I bet it stays up!

It seems that ASO hasn’t update their prices for a few years. Their pricing would be considered pretty cheap back in 2004. But webhosting has become increasingly more affordable since then.
It was a good choice to switch hosts!

I don’t know much about hosting, but I can tell that it’s very annoying, so I hope you get the problem fixed soon.

I’m glad you were able to work out your hosting issues!! I’m thinking of going with Site5 next year, since everyone says they’re so awesome.

You don’t need to tell me that aso are a bunch of asses. I’ve had muliple MAJOR complications with them.
The first day I moved to them was great, my site was loading faster and there were no more cpu error pages popping up but after that it was almost a constant downtime.
I pretty much had to cuss at them to get anything done. The problem with them is that they seem to prize their higher packaged buyers over the small guys so when a high package server goes down you get two minutes of downtime whereas when a small package server goes down they blame you, move you, disable things that have no problems or a problem that shouldn’t BE a problem on their so-called ‘fantastic/reliable’ servers.
If I wasn’t dead broke right now I’d be at site5 right along with you. My pagerank, visitor count, revenue and even the qbee has been messed up because of them because 99% of the time my site is a blank page or some error page or another. Hell half the time I don’t even want to own the site anymore which has been my baby since 2004.. i recommended them on the first day but after more time.. hell no, they really need to get their priorities checked and purchase more servers instead of cramming every tom, dick and harry aboard their already overpacked ones. *growls at aso*

I’m thinking of moving. Can you just do that so easily? Can I just cancel my current hosting, sign up somewhere else and move my site? I’m scared of that…

Ironically enough your site’s index, Melissa, has a 403 forbidden error
Might want to fix your .htaccess or something.

*sheepish grin* See and I feel silly now because I was the one who convinced you to switch with me to ASO last year…after our mutual friend, Netrillium, went kaput as well.
BUT…happily, we have a fab new host now right?! RIGHT! And I had that experience with support in the beginning as well, but it was a weekend for me too so I cut ‘em some slack. ;P
Oh yes…hover over this picture:

Site5 is infinitely bigger than ASO, you’re not going to get immediate support from them. Nonetheless, they’re a fantastic host and I won’t be happy until everyone I know is with them

Hmm.. I’m starting to wonder if maybe i should consider moving too. I’ve been having more problems as of late ~_~ I’ve heard nothing but good things about site 5 too. But that’s cause most of the people i know are people you know too !
I’m glad to see you’re back ^^ I was worried when I went to do my dailies earlier this week and you were gone.

Au revoir!
I’ll be chilling here with ASO, at least until my plan expires. After that, who knows?
Glad to know the site will be going strong from now on, though. Cheers!
