There seems to be so many more conventions in the US than there are here, and dressing up for something other than riotous parties is a total social faux-pas. :P One old woman who had bought her grandaughter to an animecon asked me what motivates people to dress up like that. I told her it was a Japanese thing, and very popular over there. :P I'm a notorious last-minute dresser-upper having done so twice for WoW launches (one of very few who did, and therefore got some media attention :P) and once at an animecon. Great costume. :) You must’ve had fun.
