BubblesSOC

Hi I'm Bubs, welcome to my home on the web!

Thanks for stopping by! You have stumbled upon the personal website of Sidney Collins (aka Bubs). I'm a 24-year old student at the University of Alabama studying Computer Science and Mathematics. When I'm not busy programming you'll probably find me writing, drawing, reading, shopping, eating, or playing Monopoly.

School ‘n Stuff

School’s back in full force… that’s why I haven’t been around much lately. I have 2 projects due and an exam this week :dizzy: Will and I have $100 riding on our GPAs this semester. If I make better in my classes, he pays me (vice-versa) It’s a bit unfair since he is in grad school and doesn’t have as heavy of a load as I do :P In case you’re interested, here’s what I’m taking:

The Deathly Hallows

I finished reading Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. I must say, one of the best books I’ve ever read. Extremely fast paced, there wasn’t a moment without action concerning the main characters. As far as I know (as I haven’t read all the books yet), JKR did a wonderful job of tying up all the loose ends. Two chapters brought tears to my eyes!

Interesting Coincidence

When it comes to movies, I have a boy’s taste. Give me an action/adventure over a romantic comedy any day. Since I was a little girl, 3 film franchises have stood out in my mind as my favorites — James Bond, Indiana Jones, and Star Wars.

For Christmas my parents gave me the James Bond Ultimate Edition (all four volumes!) Although I’ve seen all 21 Bond movies over a billion times, I’ll still pop one in when I’m bored.

I Love You Blake Lewis

Blake Lewis on American Idol Blake had a close call tonight! I guess we really don’t know if he were in the bottom 2, but I was still nervous. Chris Richardson was a fan favorite, but Blake’s performance last night was out of this world! Like I said in a previous post, I detest reality television. The only reason I started watching American Idol is because of my dad (he loves the band.)

Strange, Strange Dream

So, I was living in an apartment complex located just off the interstate on a bluff overlooking a valley. Nestled beside the valley to the northwest of the complex was an active volcano that had recently started erupting, spewing ash and rock into the air dreadfully close to my apartment. I was concerned for my fellow tenants, so I went door to door alerting them of the volcano. To the east on an even higher ledge was another apartment complex which I apparently owned. I offered rooms to my neighbors until after the eruption. After packing my car full of my most important belongings, I noticed that the valley below was rapidly filling with lava, but it was a beautiful sight! My blog readers would be proud because I remember thinking to myself, ‘I need to take a picture of this to post on my website!’ On one trip to my car, I spotted my friend, Aaron, who was too busy packing his car to say hello ;)

For some reason that I cannot recall, I had to drive down the interstate, but I forgot to bring Pixie and my parakeets! In my haste to retrieve my beloved animals, I rear-ended the car in front of me. The driver turned out to be a boy from my junior high that I haven’t seen in ages… I have no clue how he ended up in my dream! Anyways, once I got back to my apartment, I was horrified to find the lava had overflowed the valley and inched up to the door of my apartment, blocking my entrance. I woke up before finding out if I saved my animals or not

Movie Reviews

I’m striving to make my blog interesting again :spin:

The Black Dahlia

If you like crime dramas, this is a must see! Filled to the brim with twists and turns, I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. The weak-stomached might want to keep their distance, though. Dahlia definitely had its share of gore, but that’s because the actual crime was brutal. (Read more about the true Dahlia story). The real crime remains unsolved, but the film has closure… and the climax will shock you! ;) 7 out of 10 stars.

All the King’s Men review coming soon…

Animal Crossing

I’m trying my best to come up with a new design for BubblesSOC, but haven’t had any luck thus far :(

My baby, Perfection, now resides at per.fectio.net … catchy, huh? I have to thank Jem and Versteckt for the idea.

I bought Animal Crossing for Nintendo DS! It’s my favorite DS game so far :D If you’re interested in playing with me, please email me or leave a comment.

Edit: I just bought a turtle! Actually, I ordered him. He’ll be arriving on Thursday :spin: I named him Sparticus after my friend Andy’s gamertag. In my strange world, all of my friends have animal names. Andy’s animal was a turtle, therefore, my turtle inherited his name. Make sense? Probably not. My best friend Rach says that I’m going to be the crazy lady with lots of cats one day. I believe her. I would buy a cat now, but I’d have to pay a $300 fee for a cat in my apartment :P

Ok, now here’s Bubs’ Animal Census:

1 guinea pig - Coco
1 maltese pup - Pixie
2 parakeets - Bit & Byte
6 fish
1 turtle - Sparticus
