In other news, my OS professor asked me to help out with a project.  I don’t know any details other than I’ll be in charge of bug reporting and helping out with the website.  Adding this job to my current schedule means that I’ll be cutting back on Halo

I recently started working with a personal trainer and I’ve already lost 2 pounds! My target weight is 120 and I’m currently at 129.  While shopping yesterday…

… I tried on a dress in medium, and it was too big.  It feels so good to be able to say that again.  I don’t remember the last time I purchased something in a small.

I started the second-to-last semester of my college career 3 weeks ago.  Here’s what it looks like:

• Intro Computer Algorithms
• Programming Languages
• Computer Architecture
• Statistics
• Matrix Theory
• Undergraduate Research

I began taking Algorithms and Programming Languages a year ago, but had to take a Medical Withdrawal from that semester for my surgery.  Our Programming Languages professor is new, and he’s teaching much more interesting languages:  Perl, F# and Java.  I’ve already learned so much about Regular Expressions in the short time we’ve studied them.  Here’s our first assignment, if anyone’s up for a challenge

Initially, I was really nervous about Computer Architecture since I still don’t understand Assembly Language, but our professor (who is also new) is great.  I got a 110 on my first homework — 10 bonus points for a “very good attitude” Our first exam is coming up this Tuesday.

Are you taking any interesting classes this semester?

I have Physics Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 12:30-2:30pm.  On Tuesdays and Thursdays we meet from 12:30 to 4:30 because of lab   When I get home I have tons of homework.  By evening, I’m exhausted so I really don’t have much time for online life I did manage to make an A in the first half of the course, though

Don’t tell anyone, but Will and I are looking at engagement rings.  Scratch that — I’m dragging Will with me to look at rings and threatening his life if he doesn’t propose by September (we’ve been dating 6 years for crying out loud!)  Why September? He’s leaving to work in Atlanta, GA until May and I will be left in Tuscaloosa all alone.  Also, we’ve already decided that we want to get married in May or June (preferably May) 2009.  I’ll be graduating in May 2009 and (hopefully) starting grad school in the Fall.  William will be returning from Atlanta and (hopefully) starting law school in the Fall.  The summer is the perfect time for marriage and honeymoon! Nevermind.

I need to go study for my Physics exam.  I promise I won’t wait 4 months to blog again

Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas! I still have not mailed Christmas goodies to my penpals Hopefully, I can take care of that either tomorrow or Thursday. If you sent me a Christmas greeting to my Tuscaloosa address, I haven’t received it since I’m currently in Florence with my family.

I want to thank to Brigitte, Tracy, Cori, Becka, Kachii, Rin, Meggan, Cristina, Ashley, Mendifae, Rebecca, Malin, Nan, Brenda, Hev, Meghan, Ang, Nanda, and Afef for the encouraging words regarding my surgery recovery! Also, in case you missed it, I posted a before/after pic on Flickr

Here’s a photo from the day following my surgery. You can see how swelled I am, although quite a bit of the swelling has subsided by now. This afternoon, my doctor removed the splint from my nose.

I have some nice before/after pics to post, but my scanner isn’t cooperating at the moment Here ya go!

Miscellaneous Updates

We didn’t make it to the Braves game because Alan missed the turn, putting us about an hour out of the way. Poor Al had such bad luck!

After missing the turn, Al had a slight fender-bender (no damage). Saturday morning before Six Flags, he fell down the stairs at Will’s place Luckily, his bad luck didn’t cause us to have any accidents at the park

Six Flags was wonderful! We bought a Gold Flash Pass, allowing us to practically walk right on all the big rides. Our longest wait was 30 minutes. The normal wait for Thunder River (the raft ride) was over 90 minutes… we got on in 5

I usually love roller coasters, but I almost chickened out on Goliath and Déjà Vu. Thank goodness peer pressure kicked in. I liked riding the Goliath so much that I bought our snapshot:

On a side note… I absolutely adore my new camera! If you’re shopping for a digital camera, I highly recommend checking out the Fujifilm FinePix Z5fd

After research, I realized that both cameras fit my criteria. I reluctantly decided upon the CyberShot because nowhere in Florence, Alabama sold the Raspberry Red FinePix While waiting for service at Wal-Mart, I saw the FinePix in Brown. It was really nice and sleek. My heart seemed to be set on it, so I decided to wait. I’m SO glad that I did!

William’s nickname is Baby Bobcat, so I bought him a Bobcat hat! I’m going to visit him in Atlanta tomorrow afternoon. We’re going to catch a Braves game Friday night and head over to Six Flags Saturday morning I’m so excited! I hope the weather is good.

I’m suddenly obsessed with all the Web 2.0 apps out there… especially Twitter. I started using it after I installed its Facebook app. I soon realized that you could update it through your cell… how fun!

Twitter will be even more fun when I get my iPhone in 2 weeks I know what you’re thinking — it’s so overpriced. Well, I’ve had sucky cell phones all my life… I deserve a good one! I love my iPod and Powerbook, so I trust Apple to provide me with an excellent product. I guess I’ll forgive them for their partisan political ad
