Hi I'm Bubs, welcome to my home on the web!

Thanks for stopping by! You have stumbled upon the personal website of Sidney Collins (aka Bubs). I'm a 24-year old student at the University of Alabama studying Computer Science and Mathematics. When I'm not busy programming you'll probably find me writing, drawing, reading, shopping, eating, or playing Monopoly.

House Disaster

I’m home for the weekend, and our house is a disaster! My mom is having the entire exterior bricked. During the process, our house was flooded somehow, resulting in some furniture damage and requiring most of the carpet to be replaced.

Upstairs Hallway

I finished all of my chores yesterday and I also deep-cleaned the entire apartment - it’s spotless now! I’m so proud of myself *pats self on back*

Thanks to Leila, I downloaded Naruto #94. It’s such a cliffhanger, I almost hated that I watched it. Now I’m counting down the days to the next episode - an hour-long special! I have a feeling it’s gonna be really good :hehe:

Off to respond to my email. Thanks tuan, Jenny, Mandi, leila, Daynah, thao, Valerie, Anneke, Chette, Gaby, Rain, and Ashley for the comments.

Plug: Tuan - because he’s so much cooler than me!

Another Sleepless Night

Sorry everyone… I’ve been taking advantage of the lazy days of summer a bit too much lately :sweatdrop: I really haven’t had anything exciting to blog about, either. My apartment is a total wreck… I can’t believe that I’ve become such a slob! And to think I was voted ‘Neatest‘ of the Senior class. I’ve changed a lot since I started college. Too bad, the changes have been mostly for the worst :P I hope that it’s just a phase, because I don’t want to be a lazy slob for the rest of my life!

Will, his two roommates, and I went to see The Village Saturday night. It was okay, but I thought Signs and The Sixth Sense were better. I kinda ruined it for myself when I figured out the plot midway into the film. However, the plot twist was crazy — typical M. Night Shyamalan :) I must admit, he’s a really good screenwriter… one of the best, in my opinion.

My sleep cycle is screwed up again. I stay up all night and sleep all day. I have to get back to normal before school starts! I don’t want another bad semester :frown: Anyways, my best friend Rachael sent me this funny cartoon featuring Bush and Kerry  She knows how much I love my politics!

Web News: BubblesSOC received the Stylish Website Award from Jordie at Hexi-Decimal.Com. Sam finally got her comments working again… be sure to go test ‘em out for her ;) I’ve updated the Poll of the Moment and finally joined DMB. You can also catch me over at SNOG and Tunapuff.

For those of you who have recently joined the BubblesSWAP: your submissions are in my inbox… I will add you as soon as I get un-lazy! Please bear with me

The Movie Pass

William and I purchased the Blockbuster Movie Pass last night. We get 2 movies out at a time with no late fees for only $24.99/mo. I’ve been renting a bunch of Kung-Fu movies  That’s my newest obsession! Has anyone seen Iron Monkey? It was directed by Woo-ping Yuen, who did the martial arts for The Matrix Trilogy, Kill Bill, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, etc. Quentin Tarantino produced it, so I figured it would be pretty good. I enjoyed it, but you have to be a fan of those kind of movies. My other current craze is I Love the 90s on VH1 - it brings back so many memories of my youth! :hehe:

In other news, Tuan just opened his forums! Go visit and join! :spin: Also, I was featured in the Babe Spotlight on the AGP Forums I’m such a huge GEEK!!

Thanks for the comments: Anneke, natasja, Tarah, Dayna, Emma, tuan, Jenny, Angelique, Clarity, Christine, Yajaira, Mar, Peter, illesztnena, dandyna, Mandi, and Mitu. Nighty-night!

July 4th Weekend

Hope everyone had a great weekend! Mine was wonderful :D Before I begin, I wanted to let everyone know that I’ve been experiencing some minor email problems. If you have emailed me since Friday (July 2), please email me again (This includes applications for the BubblesSWAP). Sorry for the inconvenience!

Monday afternoon, my aunt and first cousins came to visit. We, along with my parents, grandparents, and William, visited Spring Park, a beautiful park in Tuscumbia, Alabama that was a big part of our childhood. The main purpose of our excursion was to ride the new train that circles the park, but sadly, we missed the last ride by 17 minutes! It was my fault for eating a piece of apple pie rather than leaving for the park O_o However, we still had a great time. It’s always nice to spend time with family.

Sunday night, William and I accompanied my parents to the beautiful fireworks show over the Tennessee River. Our seats weren’t as good as usual since we decided to go at the last minute, but the show was still spectacular. God bless the USA!

Pretty Fireworks

Last but not least, is it a dog or a rug? The world will never know…

Where's Paislea?

By the way, Paislea and Coco met this weekend. They got along just fine :)

Natasja has done it again! Her new layout is the cutest layout ever… featuring a pink octopus! I almost cried when I saw it  Ivy, Nadine, and Christine also have new layouts, so check them out as well. Thanks for the comments: Birgit, Christine, Sam, Dionne, tuan, Daynah, Joni, tuan, Mike, Carolyn, Tarah, Brigitte, natasja, Tina, and Anjana. Have a nice evening!

Tina wanted half of my comments, so show her some love :hehe:

Not Quite Sure…

I watched LOTR: Return of the King tonight with my dad. That movie is just amazing… the special effects make you feel as though giant elephants, trolls, and spiders really do exist. I’ve yet to purchase the DVD because I want to wait for the rumored ‘Special Edition ROTK’ that is over 4 hours long! I hope to finish reading the trilogy this summer.

I had my hair highlighted and cut this afternoon. For the first time in my entire life, I actually liked it! (I usually cry afterwards hehe) I must post a picture of it soon. My stylist told me that the chemicals from the highlight would relax my perm a bit, so I’m anxious to see if any curls survived.

I’m currently working on a new layout. It isn’t anything extravagant; instead, it’s a simple, fast-loading CSS skin. I have an idea of what I want to do, but I haven’t started on any of the graphics. Don’t expect it to be available any time soon since I’m leaving for the beach again on Sunday. Oh, and I’m also bringing back the Oswald skin… I can’t resist because it’s too cute!

In other news, Jem finished my review at Cloudy Sky Reviews. I may take her advice on the navigation for my DoodleBlog skin and place it on the left column… who knows. I also rearranged my Joined page. Please don’t forget to join my fanlisting if you are a fan of my website :)

Tonight, I’m plagued by another headache and dizzy spell  No, I didn’t sniff any chlorine tablets. Maybe I am suffering from an ear infection? Whatever the case, I’m about to take some Alieve and crawl in bed.

Back from the Beach

The beach was wonderful! I stuffed myself full of seafood :fish: I didnt get to take as many pictures as I wanted because the battery in my camera died and I didn’t have the charger. I did manage to snap a few pics, however.

Our view from the balcony

Our view from the balcony

Andy and Odysseus

Andy and Odysseus - the GIANT octopus raft. I bought it pre-inflated and it barely fit into Will’s 4-Runner. We could fit 4 people on it at one time. People would come from across the beach to admire the gigantic octopus

SHARK!!

Poor Will, he lost a fight with a shark.

My souvenirs

Destin, FL has amazing shopping… a girls’ paradise! I bought 2 Polo shirts (one not pictured), a polka-dotted scarf belt, some new Teva flops, and a cute tank top.

Bob the Koala

Will also got me a new Build-A-Bear. Meet Bob the Koala. Isn’t my boyfriend a sweetie pie? hehe

Here’s 3 more pics from the trip: Giant Octopus, Jaws, Fountain.

I OWNED in putt-putt on both nights we played. The first night, I got four hole-in-ones, but I still lost to Alan, the golf pro. The second night, I tied with Alan. It’s funny because most of the time when I putt-putt, I get 9s and 10s on holes because I goof off the whole time  We had a great time on the trip… I wish we could have stayed longer! Will’s condo was perfect. I hope we can go back later this summer.

On a different note, my grades turned out much better than I expected. I received an A- in English — I was VERY excited because I thought I was going to get either a B or a C! I got an A in Greek/Roman Mythology and an A+ in Computer Science. I was disappointed in my Honors Spanish grade, which was a C, because that’s the first C I’ve ever received (and I’m going to work hard to make it my last as well!) I ended up with a ‘Medical Incomplete’ in Philosophy, which will turn into an A+ when I complete the work. The explanation of the incomplete is complicated, so I will save it for a later post.

I’m back at home for 2 weeks on my super-slow dial-up modem, so if I don’t return your comments, that’s why :P Summer school begins June 8 … that’s when I’ll head back to Tuscaloosa. Thanks everyone for your comments while I was on vacation - Annie, Brooke, Chette, Christine, Dionne, Jem, Jenny, kir, kitsune, leila, Melissa, Michelle, nagaki, Salome, Sanne, Tina, tuan, & Yajaira.

I’m off to relax at Will’s house for the afternoon… hope everyone has a great day! It’s good to be out of school…

Speaking Out

I promise I’m not intentionally neglecting my blog! School is getting hectic since the year is slowly drawing to a close. I have so much work to do right now (most of which I could’ve done weeks ago, but I chose to procrastinate instead) that it makes my head spin :dizzy: I really need to break so that I can get organized before my next semester begins. I’ve been so unorganized this semester due to the fact that I’m taking new medication, moved from the dorms into an apartment, and recently switched majors.

I finished registering my classes this afternoon. This summer, I’m taking Computer Science 114/116 and Calculus I. This fall, I’m enrolled in Spanish 356, Philosophy 226, CS 124, Economics 110, and Music 121 (for a Fine Arts credit). As of now, I’m quite satisfied with my schedule. I’m sure that my mind will soon change…

I read the blogs of others (such as Dodo) who are so adamant about their views/beliefs. They are able to state their arguments so clearly that you can’t help but agree with them. I really wish that I could better express my feelings in words.

A lot of things taking place in my country right now really bother me - almost to the point that I want to cry. I would like to share my viewpoint with my readers, but I always get the feeling that I’m not intelligent enough to discuss such issues. I guess one thing holding me back is that I really don’t want to offend anyone, even though I sometimes get offended by writings of others. However, I’m an open-minded person and I understand that everyone is entitled to their own opinions. Anyways, enough of that…

I finally wrote an Autobiography for my site! When I request reviews for my site, the reviewers always comment on how they wished I had more information about myself, so I decided to go a tiny bit in-depth into the life of Bubbles. Speaking of reviews, I was inducted into the Hall of Fame at All She Said Reviews!

Sorry if this blog didn’t make any sense. It’s almost 4 am, and I really don’t know how or why I’m still awake. As usual, thanks to my many commenters: Arielle, Babsie, Brigitte, Chette, Christine, Dayna, Jenny, kitsune, Sanne, Shelli, Tina, and Tuan. Have a nice evening (morning?)

The Big Two-Zero (Continued)

Thanks everyone for the kind birthday wishes [Brigitte, Chette, Kelly, kir, kitsune, Lindsay, MizAmanda, Nadine, Rach, Renay, Sanne and Tuan] Besides the miserable weather, today was a good day. William bought me a pink Dooney & Bourke purse and my parents got me a Vera Bradley travel bag (pictures). I needed a travel bag because I lost my old duffle. I’d resorted to transporting my clothes home in plastic Wal*Mart bags  Anyways, I can’t wait to go birthday shopping for new Spring clothes!!

This afternoon, I got ANOTHER perm. I have the straightest hair on the planet so all the curl from my first perm fell out the next day O_o I really hope that it worked this time. My stylist used over 200 rollers in my hair! She said if this perm doesn’t work then its a lost cause.

I promise to return everyone’s comments as soon as I get back to Tuscaloosa. Here at home I’m on dial-up… and it’s painfully slow. Every webpage takes at least 5 minutes to download :stressed: I don’t know how I survived without my cable internet!

The Big Two-Zero

Thanks Natasja! Happy Birthday to Me! hehe Well, my mom said that its not actually my birthday until 7 pm tonight x_x Oh well, I’m gonna celebrate all day today anyways. I will finish this post later on, I just wanted to show off my birthday present from Natasja — isn’t my new octopus adorable?? I think I’m in love… Now, I just need to get a real octopus for my aquarium!

Well off to bed. Check back later for the rest of this post! Have a great night.

Curls!

For the first time in my life, I have CURLY hair! Yesterday afternoon, I got my first perm  I definitely needed a new look, especially since Spring Break and Summer are just around the corner. I can’t keep my hands off it… it’s so different than my natural straight-as-a-board hair. Maybe I’ll get a picture of it? I dunno.

I started that ‘project’ that I mentioned 2 blogs ago, but it may take a while to finish. If you’re wondering, I’m making a ‘DoodleBlog’ … I thought it was an original idea, but I googled it, and discovered that there are a couple of them across the net. Anyways, I think it will be fun, especially since I love to draw all the time.

My filler patch donation is the current ‘Graphic Spotlight’ at the Qbee :) I received this lil patch.

I’m so sleepy, so I think I’m gonna head to bed. Thanks Brigitte, Babsie, Joanna, Annabelle, and Liz for your comments.
