Apparently, an outbreak of some sort occurred in my aquarium. First, Pinky died. She lived for 4 years, so I knew it was coming. The following day, I woke up to find Blue dead and Big Fins acting strangely. Upon closer inspection I noticed that Big Fins’ fins looked as though they had rotted! I performed an emergency tank clean and quarantined Big Fins. I also treated the clean tank with a medical solution. The 4 remaining fish seem to be doing ok, but Big Fins is struggling. He now has open sores all over his body I almost want to just put him out of his misery.

Edit: Big Fins died It was for the best, though.

Pinky, my pink tetra, passed away this morning. She lived a good long life of 4 years. She was always the smartest of the bunch. At feeding time when the other fish would swarm at the top, she’d patiently wait at the bottom, dining on the food that fell to her. When Big Fins picked on her, she’d hide out in the Octopus Cave. Although I’ll probably buy another pink tetra, Pinky will never be replaced!

Edit: I just bought a turtle! Actually, I ordered him. He’ll be arriving on Thursday I named him Sparticus after my friend Andy’s gamertag. In my strange world, all of my friends have animal names. Andy’s animal was a turtle, therefore, my turtle inherited his name. Make sense? Probably not. My best friend Rach says that I’m going to be the crazy lady with lots of cats one day. I believe her. I would buy a cat now, but I’d have to pay a $300 fee for a cat in my apartment

The parrot in Pirates of the Caribbean 2 inspired me to buy a bird. I went to Petsmart with the intention of getting a Cockatoo or Cockatiel, but decided to purchase 2 Parakeets instead (due to lack of funds hehe). Now the animal count is up to 10 — dog, guinea pig, 2 birds, and 6 fish

Any name suggestions for the new birds? They are both female

Just when I thought I’d learned all I need to know about webdesign (not literally), I come across mod_rewrite – which is quite useful! I still have the hardest time comprehending regular expressions, so I’m just using it in its simplest form. Rather than typing profile.php?id=1 every time I want to access a member profile I can use profile/1 instead! Neil Crosby can explain it better than I, so I’ll leave the job to him. Btw – if you are using an .htaccess file to protect against direct linkers, you are using mod_rewrite!

I’m so excited because we’re leaving Friday night for Destin, Florida (Spring Break!) I’ve been looking forward to this vacation for 2 months now

Aren’t they both just gorgeous?? I have 7 tetras in the 10-gallon and 2 goldfish in the 2-gallon. I love animals. I think I’m going to raise animals instead of kids…

And one last bit of info… I got laser hair removal over the weekend! It hurt and I cried like a baby (I’m not good with pain ) but it was worth it. I have 4 follow up visits, then the hair is gone forever! Just email me if you’d like more details

Coco got a new home!

Coco stayed with my aunt while I was at the beach a couple of weeks ago. My aunt rigged her up a new home in a plastic baby pool. It’s a cheap alternative to a new cage. She has a lot more room to run around and also enough space for a pigloo. I’m surprised that Pixie has not jumped in the pool with her yet

Fox News was broadcasting live from downtown Tuscaloosa, AL earlier today! I felt special The weather from Katrina is pretty crazy here. I’ve been sitting on my balcony watching the trees behind my apartment swaying in the wind. I hope none of them fall on me! I’m lucky to still have power… I can see the transformers exploding over the treeline. My friend, Rach, lost power at her house earlier. She said a tree fell on her neighbor’s house and that a transformer was on fire down the road. Hopefully classes will get cancelled again tomorrow.
