Hi I'm Bubs, welcome to my home on the web!

Thanks for stopping by! You have stumbled upon the personal website of Sidney Collins (aka Bubs). I'm a 24-year old student at the University of Alabama studying Computer Science and Mathematics. When I'm not busy programming you'll probably find me writing, drawing, reading, shopping, eating, or playing Monopoly.

Weekend in Atlanta

My weekend in Atlanta, GA was so much fun! Two of our friends came with me to visit William.

We didn’t make it to the Braves game because Alan missed the turn, putting us about an hour out of the way. Poor Al had such bad luck!

My 21st Birthday

Aww, thank you all so much for the birthday wishes! I feel so loved :beat: Aneesah’s and Peter’s gifts are displayed in the Awards/Gifts section. You can also see the beautiful birthday patches I received on my quilt. I had a wonderful day. My parents got me a Wacom Graphire3 4×5 Tablet. Will ordered me a Coach purse, but they sent it to Tuscaloosa instead of Florence :frown:

Tuesday morning, we took Pixie to get spayed. The vet let me see her when she was waking up from the surgery. She was still groggy and she kept bumping in to the sides of the cage :( I felt so sorry for her. She is feeling much better now, though. She is supposed to be ‘taking it easy,’ but instead, she’s as playful as ever!

Tuesday evening, William, Michael, and I drove up to Nashville, TN to see Rachael and celebrate my birthday. That night, we went to a bar called The Tin Roof… it was a lot of fun. We saw a couple of famous people ;) The following day we ate at an awesome sushi buffet called Ru San’s … it was a really cool place, I felt like I was at a restaurant in NYC! You can see a couple of pictures from the night in my album.

As soon as I finish my webring script, I’m going to start on a new layout for this place. It’s time for a bright, summery look :D

Murder?!

You know when there’s a murder and the police chalk the outline of the victim’s body? Well Friday afternoon, William spotted my sidewalk chalk in the backseat of my car and thought it would be funny to draw an outline of a body underneath the front tire of the car parked beside me. He made me draw it while he sat and laughed. (Yes, we’re amused easily) Of course, the owner of the car emerged from the building while I was on my hands and knees drawing a picture with chalk in the middle of the parking lot. All of a sudden William started freaking out because he saw the man coming. Now, I wouldn’t have been as embarassed, but William was acting like we were vandalizing something. I jumped up into my car and sped away. We watched in my rearview mirror as the man laughed about the ‘dead body’ beneath his car. I have to admit, it was pretty funny.

Guess what??? I made a 91 on my Cal test! :spin: How on earth I managed that, I have no idea because when I left the test, I thought I’d flunked it. Oh well, maybe I’ve learned my lesson and I’ll start studying from now on? Eh, probably not. I’ve been procrastinating my whole life, why would I change now?

I updated my plugboard script… I added a feature that should protect against broken images due to direct linking. Download the new version here. Let me know if you encounter any problems.

I get very impatient waiting for the latest Naruto releases. Does anyone want to recommend anime(s) that I can download through bittorrent? I like genius storylines, action/drama mixed with a little romance… not much of a comedy lover, though. My favorites so far are Sailormoon and Naruto, to give you an idea of what I like ;)

CD Track to MP3?

Can anyone tell me how to take a song from a CD and convert it to an MP3 rather than a WAV file? My friend Michael recorded a demo and I really want to upload his songs to my Radio.Blog Thanks to Will and Ashley, I figured it out  Be sure to check out Michael’s songs on my Radio.Blog. If you like his tracks, share the link with your friends.

I love computers, but I hate printers. I always mess them up because I don’t know a thing about them and I don’t care to read the instruction manual :sweatdrop: Today, Will tried to print something and received some strange error regarding the print cartridges. I opened it up, fiddled with the cartridges, then tried to close it back, but it wouldn’t shut. I instinctively got mad and started yelling at Will for breaking my brand new printer. In turn, he got mad and left. Well, a few minutes later I discovered the true culprit - a piece of bark that Pixie had brought in from outside. How she managed to get a piece of bark up inside my printer is quite a mystery. Poor Will, he gets blamed for everything! hehe

I finally fixed all the bugs in my plugboard script. If you’re interested in my script, you can download it here. It uses PHP/MySQL and protects against spamming and broken images/links. There is also an option to email you when someone submits a button. It’s a simple script, but I’m proud because it’s my first :-D If you decide to use it, let me know your name and website and I’ll plug you. Currently, Michelle and Natasja are using my script.

I have four tests next week… I think that’s the most I’ve ever had in one week, aside from finals. Calculus and Math 115 on Tuesday, Computer Science on Thursday, and Visual Basic on Friday. I’m going to be in the library the rest of the weekend, so I better get some sleep tonight.

Flying Fish

School hasn’t even started yet, and I’m already stressed out! :dizzy: Remember when I explained how I spilled Coke on my laptop? Well, apparently there is some kind of short in the keyboard… the ‘2′ key is malfunctioning. Every few minutes hundreds of 2’s show up in whatever I’m typing — it’s so annoying. I’ll probably have to send my out-of-warranty laptop back to Dell for them to fix it. In the meantime, I’ll have to drag my desktop PC from home to school :stressed: I can’t survive a day without my beloved computer!

Last night when I returned to my apartment, I found sickly fish living in a disgusting aquarium. Acting purely on impulses, I panicked, then removed the fish and began to empty out the dirty water and gravel. I soon realized that in order to thoroughly clean the aquarium (keep in mind that I’m a perfectionist), I would have to devote an entire day to the project. On top of that, I was supposed to be meeting some friends and I was already late. I left the fish in separate bowls and headed to Will’s apartment. When I got back at 3 am, I heard a thud in the kitchen. One of the fish had jumped out of the bowl! The poor thing was barely holding on to life :( I scooped her up and returned her to the water. I feared that she wouldn’t make it through the night since she appeared to be struggling. I refilled the aquarium and replaced the fish. When I checked on them this morning, she looked as healthy as ever! I think I must have saved her just in time. Thank goodness because I love all my fishies! :fish:

My grandparents were thrilled because I made their Himalayan, Cody, a Catster Page. Isn’t he a beautiful cat? He’s a devil, though  I also made Alan’s dog, Tony, a Dogster webpage — Tony is adorable as well! I felt bad for Coco, since she was getting left out of the fun, until I discovered Petster.Com. Now, she has a webpage, too! I also added more pictures to Paislea’s page.

I’m really excited about my classes tomorrow! Hopefully, this will be a good semester :) Thanks for the comments: Sanne, Renee, Cara, Jenny, Kitten, Melissa, Dionne, Bekki, Chette, Natasja, and Angela.

The Raccoon Hunter

Friday, Will got out my Super Nintendo and we played Mortal Kombat 2 all afternoon. On our way to dinner, we

Baby Raccoon

I managed to chase him across the road to a closed gas station. There were some woods behind the gas station, so I figured he would find his way inside. Meanwhile, I returned to my apartment and grabbed my camera so that I could snap a picture to show my readers :beat: When I returned to the station, the baby raccoon was rumaging for food near the trees. After I took a photograph, I chased him into the woods. He was so cute! I wanted to take him home with me, but I figured he wouldn’t like that too much :hehe:

I wrote my first C++ program yesterday! Watch out Bill Gates, here I come  My first Calculus test is this Wednesday… that should be exciting. In other news, I’m changing my second major to Computer Engineering since the required courses are practically the same as those required for Computer Science (my first major). My goal is to build my own computer before I graduate :woot: My college is supposed to have an excellent engineering program, so I have high hopes.

Emma has made a new layout for my fanlisting… it is adorable! :spin: If you like BubblesSOC.Net, please join! Also, don’t forget to vote for my basket at the Qbee - I’m #77!

Drugs Are Bad

Yesterday, Will and I were adding chlorine tablets to his pool. Despite the warnings from his little brother, I proceeded to write ‘Sid Loves Will‘ on the concrete with one of the tablets. Afterwards, I forgot to wash my hands. Boy did I pay for my mistake last night. Apparently, if you sniff chlorine, it makes you sick (or high?) because my head was spinning and I had a splitting headache all night long. I thought that I had an inner ear infection, but then I remembered my concrete sketch … my hands also still smelled of chlorine  Silly me!

Isn’t my new baby just adorable? Yes, I’m referring to my new purse (or handbag, as most call it hehe) ;) I got this Louis Vuitton Cherry Blossom Papillion for only $45! I still want the bag I mentioned in my previous entry. Hopefully, I can get it for a cheaper price as well.

Is anyone else a fan of the Pure Moods collection? I love new age/ambien music… it’s so relaxing! Will bought me Pure Moods IV last night. I have volumes II and III. Volume I is hard to find in stores, since its an older album.

Guess what’s today?? Lord of the Rings: Return of the King is available on DVD! I meant to wake up early this morning to buy it before it sold out. Needless to say, I overslept :P Maybe Best Buy will still have some copies remaining this afternoon. My dad hasn’t seen it yet, so I want to watch it with him before I return to school.

I have an appointment at 11:30, so I best be getting ready. Hope everyone has an excellent afternoon!

Dog Days of Summer

Woohoo, I actually have a story to tell tonight :) Will and I were on our way to my house from eating with my parents when I notice an animal cross the busy highway up ahead. I point to the animal and tell Will to watch out, then I see the animal (a Jack Russell Terrier) dart into oncoming traffic. I dive out of Will’s car (barefoot, I might add) and chase after the puppy. My presence scares him even more and he starts running around in circles in the middle of an intersection. I had to shield my eyes because a car almost hit him. A truck stops up ahead and tries to grab the dog, but instead scares him back into the oncoming traffic. A couple of other cars stop, too, and try to help out. The poor animal is scared to death and is wandering around senselessly on this busy road with cars buzzing by. Meanwhile, I’m running around barefoot, dodging and weaving through traffic trying to catch the little pup. To make a long story short, someone finally chased the dog down the highway and into the woods. I called the police department, who immediately dispatched a patrol car to try to find the dog and avoid an accident. The pup wasn’t wearing a collar and looked totally lost, so I figured he must’ve been someone’s puppy that ran away. I pray that he doesn’t get hit and will find his way home.

I enjoyed reading the comments on my last entry, thanks so much for your input :D We spent the day on the lake, so I’m pooped! My body hurts from head to toe from riding the waverunner all afternoon. I’m exausted, so I think I’m gonna hit the sack  Thanks: Brigitte ¬¨? Christine ¬¨? Jem ¬¨? Joni ¬¨? Leslie ¬¨? Maggie ¬¨? Nagaki ¬¨? Salome ¬¨? Sam ¬¨? Tuan ¬¨? Unicornbeauty … Goodnight!

Bee of the Week

~ I promise I’m not dead ^^ I am just too tired to blog right now. I have a ton to talk about, so I will blog as soon as I get up in the morning… goodnight everyone! ~

Bee of the Week ~ Thanks Qbee I am currently Bee of the Week at the Quilting Bee :spin: Wow, I am very honored. To tell you the truth, it makes me feel a lot better about my site….

I applied for something a few days ago, and was rejected. I know this sounds very cocky of me, but I’m touchy about these things. I started thinking that maybe my site wasn’t that good :getsad: Ok, enough of that! Who wants to hear me cry about my problems?? hehe Anyways, I receive a ton of positive feedback from my visitors… that’s a huge confidence boost! On top of that, I realized today that I have had over 100,000 visitors to my site. One-hundred thousand! That’s a bunch of people! (I bet half of those were my visits though lol) Anyways, I wasn’t asking for pity, I just wanted to share my thoughts.

A beer truck was hijacked this morning in Birmingham, Alabama hahaha I heard that on the local news this afternoon and immediately called William… is that not hilarious? I could imagine some of my friends being the perpetrators in that crime… the things people will do for alcohol. I also got this picture in an email a few weeks ago. I thought it was pretty funny, too.

I am really sorry if I haven’t returned your comments or, to my dailies, visited your sites over the past few days… like I said in the previous post, Peter and I have been busy working on a new project. I can’t wait for its debut! About the javascript error — I think Icy hit the nail on the head (lame expression, I know)… except its my Blogsnob ad that occasionally causes it, rather than Provance. Come to think of it, I had figured that out once before  … just goes to show you how absent-minded I am.

Before I forget, please check out my newest link exchange: Ashley

Well, I never make it to class on time in the mornings because I always oversleep. I oversleep because I am always on the computer until the wee-hours of the morning. I’m gonna hit the sack relatively early tonight  Nominations for the contest end tomorrow… so if you are interested in submitting a site, please hurry and get your vote in! And, for those inquiring minds out there, the caps feature is disabled… by a simple code “text-transform:lowercase” added to my stylesheet :) Hope everyone has a great day tomorrow!

Thanks to my beloved commenters: raye, Allie, eftalia, emma, Noora, arwa, Ashley, xuan, Icy, AMber, Kaylee, gemini, and Cooky!
